Douglass Mackey, 31, faces 10 years of prison for making anti-Democrat memes.
According to the criminal complaint, Mackey conspired with others to use Twitter and Facebook accounts operating under the alias “Ricky Vaughn” to ‘spread disinformation’ in the form of memes, messages and hashtags that he developed for the goal of influencing voters in the 2016 Presidential Election.
“Mackey made coordinated use of social media to spread disinformation relevant to the impending 2016 presidential election.” This disinformation in the Biden administration solemnly explained, quote: ” … often took the form of memes,” the Federal criminal complaint says.
One of the images he shared included a claim that people could vote for Hillary Clinton in a text message:
