Comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy won the Ukrainian presidential election with a landslide victory on April 21st.

With nearly all ballots counted in the run-off vote, Mr Zelensky had taken more than 73% with incumbent Petro Poroshenko trailing far behind on 24%.

In a video published on his Instagram, Zelenskiy expressed his happiness over winning and greeted his supporters.

“I will never let you down,” Zelenskiy told celebrating supporters.

Zelenskiy said in a speech: “We have accomplished this together.”

“All citizens of the post-Soviet countries, look at us! Everything is possible.”

Incumbent President Petro Poroshenko admitted defeat and congratulated his opponent. He said the results were “clear” and a reason to “call my opponent and congratulate him.”

“I will leave office but I want to firmly stress — I will not quit politics,” he added.

Poroshenko posted on Facebook that he will leave the presidential post, but he would still remain in politics. And he would present a strong opposition.

Posted by Петро Порошенко on Sunday, April 21, 2019

In another post he said that “they” may have lost this fight, but the war was still not lost.

Posted by Петро Порошенко on Sunday, April 21, 2019

Poroshenko, who has been in power since 2014, said the result of the election “leaves us with uncertainty [and] unpredictability.” According to him, Zelenskiy was too inexperienced “to stand up to Russia” effectively.

Furthermore, Poroshenko launched a last-minute plea on Facebook, telling Ukrainians “a five-year presidential term is not a comedy that you can easily switch off if it is no longer funny.”

Zelenskiy, on his part told reporters he would “reboot” peace talks with the separatists fighting Ukrainian forces and volunteers in the east.

“I think that we will have personnel changes. In any case we will continue in the direction of the Minsk [peace] talks and head towards concluding a ceasefire,” he said.

He also would presumably follow the 10 step-plan his HQ presented earlier.

In terms of international reaction to the results, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Mr Zelenskiy in a phone call, as did Poland’s President Andrzej Duda.

UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt also congratulated Zelenskiy.

The US Embassy in Ukraine also congratulated Zelenskiy.

European Council President Donald Tusk also extended his congratulations.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg also congratulated the president-elect on Twitter, writing: “Ukraine is a valued #NATO partner & we look forward to continuing our cooperation.”

Notably, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also tweeted regarding Zelenskiy’s win, saying that he should how “sound judgement”, “honesty” and “pragmatism” so that relations can improve.

The Russian foreign ministry said:

“Exit polls show the citizens of Ukraine voted for change. The new leadership now must understand and realize the hopes of its electors. This of course applies to domestic as well as foreign affairs.”

Finally, it should be noted that Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s victory is more than like a result of the current state of Ukraine, the economic and political troubles, as well as the on-going war. The landslide victory is also showing of how worse people’s attitude towards Poroshenko and his government had become.

The result is sufficient proof of Poroshenko’s failure to deliver on any of the promises that he proclaimed in 2014 when he was elected as well as the demonstration how destructive his policies towards the situation in eastern Ukraine were.

And the ‘Comedy of Errors’ will doubtless continue in Banderistan, whilst the long suffering Ukranian people get ready to view the latest venal plans to plunder their country.

All of which are copied to replicate American Democratic values :)

Jens Holm

The usual crap put on old stones.

Those values are not American at all. They also are in very different versions.

You cant expect and ancient collapsed and infected system can work somming from Tzars Dictatorsheip replaced by a Bolsjevic one.

I see this as a good and important step, where at least some cleaning in vital sectors can be done.

Amerika is in an even worse state politically than Ukraine.

Pompous Pompeo’s speech where he declared that the ‘ CIA , lies, cheats and steals and has a whole department teaching these skills’ is just another truth that folks like you seek to ignore.

Its a shame about your white ASOS CEO losing 3 of his white children in the recent church bombings in Sri Lanka.

Its also a shame that the MSM is avoiding saying it was a ‘Brown supremacist terror bombing’ as that would be ‘Racist ‘.

The Christchurch bombing was widely reported as a ‘ White supremacist terror bombing ‘.

Florian, you talk rubbish. There are a few usual suspects in those bombings and one of them is extremist Buddhist monks. Another is Islamic idiots. Could be the CIA as well because Sri Lanka does business with Iran. In the end, most victims were brown, so you talk nonsense

The CIA is an arm of the US , when I last looked.

ISIS ( US proxies) have declared it was their doing. Whether it was or not, Christians of all colours are regarded by the Brown religious zealots as targets to be killed.

What was done by the bombers is shameful, and the US/ Israeli exploitation of identity politics for geopolitical gain is also shameful.

Promitheas Apollonious

dont forget that the suffering people are also the voters and the ones who get fanatical and go to the streets demonstrating for or against the shit they voting for leaders like they did not know in advance the shit they are. They say that voting is a right, but if any one with a longer than 2 second thinking span will tell you that voting for a master always waive all your rights down the drain.

By voting for a clown, the voters have done all they can peacefully.

Most will realise of course that Kolomoysky is the money and firepower behind the clown.

If the Zionist scum have their way, ALL nations in the world will be like this.

Promitheas Apollonious

the voting game invented so the sheep believe they have rights and learn always to follow rather than lead, or god forbid take the initiative. But that is my personal opinion.

Yes, ‘democratic voting’, is in fact a form of voluntary self discipline that allows the elite to obfuscate the reality that the elite make all the rules and decisions.

Promitheas Apollonious

correct and always have been this way. An illusion given to the sheep so the few could control the many with their blessing and no retaliation. the perfect drug for the mindless masses that been teach from early life not to think not to take initiatives and their bigger ambition, is to be someone else employee and servant. Sad but true any way.

It looks as if Poroshenko had passed his ‘sell by’ date and TPTB found a new front-man.

Jens Holm

It might be so. I hope not. But even there is only 1/2 Poroshenko behind, it will be a big improvement.

The Governess should be done by public elected and no Oligarks. But You cant expect money – even stolen ones – dont count.

Zelensky is more of the same – just a new face for a public too weary of Poroshenko – he is product of same old oligarch system and answers to another Ukrainian-Israeli oligarch – Ihor Kolomoyski. The latter owns media networks in Ukraine – and the television station that employs and broadcasts Zelensk’s comedy shows.

Jens Holm

Ukrainians has elected themselves. Respect that. Thats noty even possible in Russia.

They should copy the collapsed Russian Economy as well? Of course they should be free and allowed to copy the good parts of the west by own choise and clean the many dirty parts.

You just try to move fokus from facts. He is elected with majority and the new country have many problems.

Just as fx Macron, You cant expect more then possible reforms, but expecting and the opposite by Your garbage is not worth listening to.

Of course jews are the same as excuses for everything bad in Your faith, because You are not learned anything else:

The jews did it, kurds did it, Israel and the zionist did it.

Facts are You do nothing or close to, and when You do, You do wrong. Go home and clean, so we can see Your Grand succes and copy the good inspiring parts as if the came direct fresh from Mecca and Medina.

Oh, Good Lord, what have Putin and Macron got to do with it?

As you are bit slow on the uptake will repeat the point – Zelensky is employee of and closely aligned with yet another Ukrainian-Isreali oligarch. Fact.

Jens Holm

I dont care about that crap and even if he is related to Levinsky visiting Clinton below in a white or black house.

And yes, its no surprice You can connect Putin and Macron to my comment about it. I have been reading parts of You stuff here.

Your level is always biased in an infame infected way. Being that illiterate, its should be no wonder, if they haven taken over, where people like You are.

But they are not here as well as in Ukraine in the way You descriebe. Here they compared to Your friends go to school, educate themselves and by skills and hard work are paid well.

Thats how we make money here, and we do have watches controlling people actually are working. And when people by that make a lot of money and fx are good in creating jobs, we tax them as well as their employes.

So westerns and half of the chinese must be jews in Your lazy world of nilling nothings worths – only good in blaming others …

Jews became something big in Russia, because You in the top had the upperclass and the rest was bottom kept down by Russian Cathatolism of the worst kind.

By their way of living, they were the only middleclass, which is the center for all well estimated countries. And by that they was the excuse for, when things in Russia, Poland, Lituania sometimes and even often were very bad.

Just like in Arabistan it was and are an excuse for everything incl. the weather and football results.

Thats how You are – The lowlife of excuses for doing hardly nothing Yourself.

‘I dont care about that crap…’

You mean the widely reported reality of shameless corruption in the Ukrainian oligarch system and its superficial political public facade?

Jens Holm

I think none should name him as comedian anymore.

I wish him and Ukraine the best. To me its fresh and very needed air giving a break to the past.

Even he might not be the best, things also will change to the better. Many countries could improve a lot, if people not being able to lie because of – so far low skills at least are trustworthy. Often they also are able to make and be forgiven for mistakes.

I hope he is not affiliated to parts of the old establishment and will remain. so.

The wind in Demark this week is southeast. The air already feels better :)

Volodymyr Zelenskiy won the Ukrainian presidential election in such a time that Ukraine faces many challenges due to previous Zionist Israeli politicians. EU and NATO are passing through uncertainty, while Russia has sanctioned Ukraine. Therefore, all trades and exports have stopped from Russia. As Ukraine sow so shall they reap.

Zelensky is no different – his patron is Ihor Kolomoyski – another Ukrainian-Israeli oligarch – nothing will change, in fact Zelensky’s policy platform openly seeks to officially recognize organized criminal activities as ‘entertainment’ sector of the economy – for benefit of criminal syndicates of course.

Jens Holm

Yerrrh, You already know better then 70% in Ukraine. You are just hostile enemy dirt of the worst kind.

Your best hoopes seemes to be the Ukrainian Oligarcs should join Putin and his cousin oligarcs.

You should gratualate them and give some advice, but no, You not even respect 70% taking their own possibilities, as they are.

1) Never take advice from Your enemies. Wish them to be farmers close to Vladivostok or resettle in Alaska.

The ‘Jens Holm’ account has curious attribute – sometimes comments are posted with competent use of English language, and then there are the comments as above – from the Google translate English mangler. Just how many people log in and use that account handle, exactly, and do you share a cubicle?

Jens Holm

You show Your low level very well.

Jens Holm

The usual hostile infame comment kind. None should care about people not caring for Ukrainians welfare and possibilities for improvements.

None. You are just the usual infame crap.

Nothing strange in people wont connect and be colonies of a collapsed empire based on an insane economy and internal and external fear using condoms to feed the babies with bottle milk.

Concrete Mike

Who the hell are you?

Jens Holm is another moron talk on behalf of baby target killers.

Jens Holm

The killers mainly are parents sending them as targets for nothing.

It make more sence for me they were cleaning mines after Houtis and ISIS.

Jens Holm

You dont know, what facts are. You are not even able to relate to them.

Jens Holm

Read my 48.862 comments.

During many years I have been a well oriented nobody, because Denmark has progrms for it as well as I read a lot.

I several times has asked for voting about those 2 counsils given to Ukraine, so they could rejoin Putin and his Oligarks and de-escalalate. Of course Ukraine should be compensated for that – some.

I also has proposed several sensible solutions for making more local Governes in countries which are very centraliced and cant handle its corners like Libya, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan/Pakistan and a few more.

Which kind of drug are You on :)

‘I also has proposed several sensible solutions for making more local

So basically you advocate an extension of the decades old Israeli scheme, for Balkanizing regional rivals, ‘The Yinon Plan: A Strategy for Israel in 1980’s’. However, Yinon was no prophet, just a journalist. Accordingly, his claims of how to manage rival state’s ethnic and sectarian disintegration, triggered by external intervention, have not actually materialized from manufactured conflicts in Iraq or Syria. The latter, in particular, probably explains your extreme Russo-phobia – as latter rolled back the NATO-Gulf State proxy war gains against Syria.

Jens Holm

Thats not jewish at all as well, but has been politics for 1000s of years.

RuAF didnt role back the Nato Gulf state as well. Is it as it was. I dont see that at all.

Has it changed to the better. I dont see that as well. If anytthing its back to after WW1, as it shoould have been.

You even support Neocolonialistic borders and insist fx denying, that Aleppo and Raqqa procinses NEVER was a part of the Region Syria, You even insist its an Arabic state, which its not as well.

RuAF most certainly rolled back the NATO-Gulf State sponsored militants in Syria – their gains up to 2015 are all gone and the remaining terror factions are contained in backwater Idlib with no means to impact upon Damascus. Syria is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious state – that is whole point of why it is secular republic. The NATO-Gulf State war against Syria was the same old Yinon Plan reheated – ethnic and sectarian terror sponsorship – attempting to fragment and break the Syrian state. It failed – and Russia was critical in stopping it. Bad luck chump.

Jens Holm

Actually more then 10 millions deny to participate in Your crap prefering to be refugees and displaced.

Winning a war is not the same as winning some kind of peace apart from the one, which made the uprisers.

And even in a no war, as You seemes to see, there are at least 550.000 and probatly just with one leg or worse.

And how can any rebuild the ancient Assad Dictatorship. Very much of the flee market infrastructure is gone. Assads hardly have any helpers in the whole world. Only SDFs might have at least some.

There was no Syrian State but a Baathist Dictatorship of the very bad kind.

Look at a map – Are You blind. Anybody normal can see old Aleppo and Raqqa provinces are the non joiners to Assads.

This is not about RuAF at all. Now they have, what they have hoped for – A smaller Syria easy to control, hopes to get paid by oil as well as very much improved base facilities in ME.

You in a very artificial way are correct. Russia is allowed to dominate more. Fine, those also are more Friends to Israel as well as hostile to Iran.

Syrians are winners in that? I dont see that at all. You belowed parts are just like a bizar version of Ground Zero 9/11.

Telling most other arabs are the strange ones only, is a total lie as well. And where are the non arabs in that.

Why did Assads has to leave leave. Why will SDFs by Kurds do things in own and better ways, why dont Jordan support You. Jordan once was Syria too.

Foreign driven and financed, regime change, proxy-war project failed. Bad luck chump.

Jens Holm

It was written for others.

Jens Holm

As written before, I would have prefered we just fenced the region letting in only food and out only oil.

Wait so, this new guy is he kinda Pro-Western, Pro-Russian, both or neither, I mean what is his stance towards Russian issues and Donbass. Anyone?

S Melanson

exit polls showed largely a vote against Poroshenko. even Ukrainians doubt Zelensky will make substantive change. I point out that already Zelensky is changing his tune (as most expected he would):

“Many voters in Ukraine, though, say they are ready to see an attempt to resolve the violent impasse in the east, where shelling continues daily and there are casualties every month.

It remains unclear, however, how Zelensky would try to do that. He has previously said he would seek direct negotiations with the separatist forces that Moscow backs. But speaking after his victory, he told reporters only that he would continue to pursue talks through the so-called Normandy Format, with France and Germany, and continue with the Minsk Agreements, a peace plan that was implemented in February 2015 but which has long-since stalled.”

In other words, no change. Also, Zelensky intends to root out corruption and stand up to the Oligarchs. Well his main backer does not bode well:

“In reality though Zelensky comes to power with a relationship to one of Ukraine’s most controversial oligarchs, Ihor Kolomoisky. Many of those who voted for Zelensky expressed reservations about his ties to Kolomoisky, whose television channel, 1+1, airs his show, and who has supported his campaign.

Kolomoisky has been in effective exile, spending time in Israel since Ukrainian authorities nationalized his bank, Privat Bank, accusing him and associates of stealing billions of dollars from its account-holders.”

As they say, meet the new boss, same as the old boss…

Jens Holm

Yes, He has a very soft program, but most people in the country already know the problems even before 1991.

I dont expect miracles from him and the ones, wich gets into power by him. But I do expect some needed fresh air as well as very moderate improvements from a very low level.

S Melanson

Agreed, he will put new flowers on the windowsill that will freshen up the air. But surprises do happen in this crazy world, maybe he will do something unexpected as the multipolar world order entrenches…

paul ( original )

Why do they always have to prefix his introduction by calling him a ‘comedian’? All the media do it, including here. Is it his only defining quality? Has he never done anything else? When does he stop being a comedian and start being a president? Why are the media so predictable and cliché infested?

Lena Jones

If Americans can elect a Cheetos in a hair-piece, then why not the Ukranians elect a one-joke comedian?

Oh it’s a mad, mad world.

Jens Holm

We have seen many successes too. Ronald Reegan was a good B western star. Arnold Schwartenegger became an ok Leader of California.

Political systems certainly can need new blod. Trump also is a mad example of the old establisment has more sand in it then Syria and Iraq.

I hope the result of him will be, many of the rest learn to see, that an old system has to be reformed in the Trump. I see him as a breaker.

All successful comedians have a good sense of timing, not all politicians do – think it would be more honest for the media to use “career politician” as an adjective more often.

Jens Holm

Yes, I also turn it upside down. How did the other politicians become, as they mainly seemes to come from.

If its an education with papers, it should not be there.

Samuel Vanguard

ok quick question is this dude aligned to NATO camp or Team Russia geopolitics is essential

Dušan Mirić

It is interesting that media continues to talk about “Comedian” as his previous occupation is important. Long time ago I heard that “comedy is a serious business.” I found out recently that an US comedian who is “entertaining fu****g drunk in a night club” more serious analyzing political figures and events than so-called MSM. I wish all the best to Mr. Zelensky.

One Jew president switched with another Jew president in a nation that is only comprised of 1% Jews. This is (((pure cohencidence))) folks, not the result of decades of Jewish planning and conspiracy.

Jens Holm

99% of the world are jews. Jews even wrote the holy Choran as well as wrote Muhammed Economics.

You might hire some Jewish spindoctors to make better excuses for You as well.

Reality speaks for itself Jew. What I wrote was fact, what you wrote was gibberish to do damage control.

Raptar Driver

The Joker now runs a country that is a joke, a bad one, good luck.

what can go wrong, Willy Wonka replaced by Mr Bean? Or better still: what can be improved? Not a single thing!

Same old shit.
