On January 27,a new video appeared online showing recent Russian airstrikes on ISIS cells in Syria’s central region.
Russian warplanes targeted a hideout and several vehicles of ISIS between Homs and Deir Ezzor. According to reports, around 20 terrorists were killed as a result of the airstrikes.
Two weeks ago, Syrian government forces, led by the Syrian Arab Army, started an operation to secure the Homs-Deir Ezzor highway. The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have been supporting the operation since the day one.
“The VKS continues to bomb terrorists’ positions, while Syrian army personnel are searching for terrorists as part of a ground operation,” a military source told RusVesna.Su.
A day earlier, RusVesna shared footage of a Russian pinpoint airstrike on a large hideout of ISIS terrorists in the desert between Homs and Deir Ezzor. The hideout was completely wiped out.
In the last 48 hours, Syrian troops eliminated two ISIS cells responsible for attacks on the Homs-Deir Ezzor highway. A total of 8 terrorists were killed. Three vehicles armed with heavy machine guns were also destroyed.
Syrian government forces and the VKS inflicted heavy losses on ISIS terrorists in the central region. Nevertheless, the operation is far from being over as the terrorist group still poses a threat to the Homs-Deir Ezzor highway.
