A joint Russian-Turkish center to monitor the ceasefire regime in the Nagorno-Karabakh region will start working in 10-14 days, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said on December 31.

“The Azerbaijani side is now building a center to be located in the Agdam region. This monitoring center will be ready in the next ten days – maximum two weeks,” Aliyev  said at a meeting with the Turkish delegation led by Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, according to TASS.

The Azerbaijani President said that the Turkish side is fully ready for the participation.

“The sooner the monitoring center starts its activities, the better. Because, despite the fact that almost two months have passed since the end of the war, threats still exist. Uncontrolled Armenian military formations operate on our territory, some of which do not want to surrender. Therefore, to eliminate this threat and, in general, to ensure peace and stability in the region in the future, a monitoring center is definitely needed, “Aliyev noted.

He expressed confidence that the Russian-Turkish “will cope (with this task) with honor”.
