On February 18, the Libyan National Army (led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar) announced that its forces had shelled a Turkish cargo ship loaded with weapons and ammunition at the port of Tripoli.

The city of Tripoli and a short chunk of the coast in norhern Libya are controlled by the Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA). Turkey is massively supplies this ‘government’ with weapons and equipment. Ankara has also deployed a limited number of own troops and thousands of mercenaries to support the GNA.

In astatement of the official Facebook page, the LNA said that the “Turkish ship loaded with weapons and ammunition that docked this morning at the port of Tripoli was destroyed”. The LNA did not provide details on the attack. However, in a separate development, Brigadier Khaled Al Mahjoub of the LNA told Al-Arabiya that the ship was carrying weapons for armed militias.

Pro-GNA sources have own version of the events, even two. A part of pro-GNA sources is claiming that the LNA strike hit civilian ships and fishing boats. Another part of pro-GNA sources is claiming that the LNA strike hit a depot in the port area. If the Turkish-operated ship was really hit, the GNA and Turkey would contribute massive efforts to hide this fact under the media buzz.

The Turkish foreign interventions are rapidly turning from a shy flirt with it’s Ottoman past to a hardcore rape of its army into multiple scenarios from the Mediterranean sea

    • Liberal guy

Hey dont say that atleast Erdoğan had his ice cream

    • Zionism = EVIL

Hopefully, roasted Turkeys in the sands of Africa are quite appetizing.

    Mashallah!

  • Daniel Vogel

The ship was probably going to return home not to violate the NATO Arms embargo…………..or not.

  • Hanny Benny

    Beautifull!!!
This turkish intervention turns to a losers speech…!!!
Sot the get the calipHell they pray for..

It would be hard for Erdogan to fight in 2 conflicts simultaneously. Even through his proxies. He needs dollars more and more while trying to support Turkish lira at the internal market. Erdogan has to stop conflicts or it will ruin the Turkish lira.

    • verner

the one that means the most is actually cyprus and the gas and he won’t allow either the cypriots to lay claim on the gas or allow the jews in the illegal settlement called israel to ship the gas they have found under the palestinian seabed. and the EU should not buy any gas from the jews (stolen as it is) and make certain the gas is awarded the rightful owners, the palestinians.

      • Harry Smith

        It’s another story bro.

        • Liberal guy

But a least Erdoğan had his ice cream

          • Harry Smith

Why not? The Russian proverb says: a bad peace is better than good war. You have to use all efforts to make a mutually profitable deal. But if your counterpart thinks that he can use force – that’s his choice and not ours.

          • Liberal guy

So where the ottoman empire 2.0 along with its muslim brotherhood sultan stands now

          • Harry Smith

First of all, being Orthodox Christian I do not really understand someone’s bad feelings about traditional Islam and Muslim values. Muslim brotherhood is just an answer to Western lifestyle expansion. Brotherhood leaders are truly morons, but most of simple members just want to protect their traditional lifestyle.

As for Erdogan, he is somewhere between Turkey dissolution and being accepted as equal member of the Belt initiative. All depends on his capability to calculate possibilities and consequences.

          • Liberal guy

            So true

            Sinking in Tripoli.

          • Liberal guy

            Hahahahaha

          • verner

you have to make up your mind – be rid of the jews once and for all, learn to live with the turks or have the jews in place and there will never be any kind of peace. just more murders more thievery and more lies a la jews.

          • Paul Sharpe

Jews and Turks are the same people.

          • FlorianGeyer

Jews leave Palestine first I think :)

            Turks can be tamed.

          • Liberal guy

Still he is crying for attack on Syria maybe its time to gv him another ice cream as the sultan wants large part of the near East

          • Harry Smith

Dialogue is always better than fight. Turkey has it’s own interests like any other country except State Govt puppets, of course. Without balance of interests of all ME countries you can’t ensure the strategic peace in the region. And do not forget that Britain and USA were too busy to bring chaos last 100 years. It’s a very hard work but everyone sane has to do it because this chaos costs hundreds of innocent lives every day.

          • Liberal guy

            Ya

        • verner

not at all – just another side of the same coin, stay awake

      • Ronald

BDS yes, but at this point in time, stopping Erdogan and his (UK) Muslim Brotherhood is achievable. His moves to back the MB Trippoli GNA is to grab Cyprus oil/gas and Libyan oil/gas. He can be stopped.
Israel will “make a deal” with who ever builds a pipeline to Europe.

    • Zionism = EVIL

Turkeys economy is crumbling and unemployment is now over 30% and foreign investment is ZERO and the suicidal wars are costing over $2 billion a month, despite stealing Syrian and Libyan oil. It is opportune time for Greece to liberate Cyprus and expel the Turkey arseholes to their Jew masters.

      • Harry Smith

Foreign investments are high. It’s carry trade time! When a government tries to support it’s own currency by selling dollars on the internal market you can take a loan in one of Western banks on almost 0%, change dollars or euros to the national currency, buy some national stocks or even put that money at some national bank account with 5-10% annual income, then sell the stocks or close the national bank account and change national currency back to the dollars or euros with the stable exchange rates down return the loan back to the western bank. Voila!
10% annual income means 2.5% income per quarter. It’s not so big if you invest 10 000 or even 100 000. But if you invest couple of millions it’s 50 000 of quarter income guaranteed by the foreign government. Not bad as you have negative rates at your country’s bank system.

  • verner

luckily for the world there is no shortage of weapons in the world – drop a cache here and find another one there.

    • FlorianGeyer

Trump will sell Erdo more weapons :)

  • Xoli Xoli

Good move.Make it unbearable for Turkey warships keep on destroying Turkey artillery and targets.

  • John Wallace

According to pro GNA sources it is a fishing boat. Well it must be a whaling boat going by all the blubber burning.

    • FlorianGeyer

Good point. I would expect a loud bang at some stage though if munitions cargoes were involved.

      • John Wallace

Yes exactly unless of course the whale had just taken a belly full of geli fish that were exploding.

  • Assad must stay

    nice job LNA

    • You can call me Al

Hi. I’m Lee. I admit it – I’m here only to make fun of all you morons. What can I say – I’m bored and have a little time to kill. Who will step up and take the bait first? I’ll present a topic: With few exceptions, Arabs are born losers. Discuss.

If Houthis shipments can be intercepted by terrorists supporter USA then let the Turkey terrorists shipment destroyed. Both USA and Turkey warships are vulnerable to messile attack.

  • TTdr

Its reported high performance Chinese drones were used to control Libya airspace successfully. So all Turkey & USNato assignef gov drones are shot down. Turks dare not sent in weapons by C130. The cargo ships are like big sitting duck in dock.

    • abuqahwa

How come not a single cargo ship has been hit yet ? Meantime Turkish A400 , C130, etc.. can fly into Misrata which id the main base for the militia and Turkish liaison forces

      • TTdr

Good qn. That was how the report written, showing several hit Turkey’s drones wreckage. It also reported Turkey was forced to ship its SAM & air guns (US version modified) over to break the Libya air space control.

Turkey told its ISIS mercenary they can fight Russian mercenary in Libya instead of Idlib. Sone already arrived Libya.

  • abuqahwa

The ship was NOT hit – proably a storage (fuel) bunker on the quayside.
