A brief overview of the recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh:

  • On December 16, 60 Armenian militia members were reportedly captured by Azerbaijani troops near Khtsaberd, according to Armenian sources;
  • On December 15, 44 prisoners of war were handed over to Armenia by Azerbaijan. 12 Azerbaijani prisoners of war were also handed over to Azerbaijan;
  • As of December 16, Russia reported that more than 175 hectares of land and about 49 kilometers of roads were cleared from mines and IEDs and 5000 explosive objects were found and destroyed;
  • As of December 16, Russian military doctors provided medical assistance to 529 citizens, including 63 children;
  • On December 15, 647 displaced persons returned from Yerevan to Stepanakert by buses with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers;
  • As of December 16, a total of 40,003 people have returned to Karabakh with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers.
