The area of Greater Idlib turned into a main hot point in Syria on November 30, when Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies launched a large-scale attack on positions of the Syrian Army in southeastern Idlib. Following a series of clashes militants captured the villages of Sarjah, Ejaz, Rasm al-Ward and Istablat. On December 1, units of the Syrian Army launched a counter-attack in the area.
The recent developments in southeastern Idlib are a demonstration of the fact that the peace is not possible in the region while groups like Hayat Tahrir al-Sham operate in the area.
