A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:

  • On December 10, Russia reported that Idlib militants violated the ceasefire regime in Greater Idlib 35 times: 16 – in Idlib province, 5 – in Aleppo province, 12 – in Latakia province, 2 – in Hama province;
  • On December 9, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) raised the Russian flag at a number of its military posts after an agreement with Russian Military Police to establish joint points near the town of Ain Issa;
  • On December 9, clashes among competing factions of Turkish-backed forces erupted in the city of Afrin;
  • On December 9, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled SDF positions in the Shahba dam area;
  • On December 9, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled SDF positions north of Tal Tamar;
  • On December 10, Turkish forces continued to withdraw from the al-Rashedin observation post west of Aleppo;
  • On December 9, Turkish forces started evacuating the al-Sarman observation post.
