A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:

  • On December 7, reinforcements for the Syrian National Defense Force arrived at Tabqa military airport;
  • On December 7, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery shelled positions of Turkish-backed forces in the Taqad area;
  • On December 7, A Turkish soldier was wounded in a guided missile strike by unknown gunmen near Ram Hamdan;
  • On December 8, clashes between the Syrian Democraitc Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed forces erupted in Kafr Khasher and Kafr Kelbin areas;
  • On December 7, 4 SDF members were wounded by an IED blast in the Dhiban area;
  • Russia allegedly requested the SDF to withdraw its forces from Ain Issa town and hand it over to the Syrian Army as a move to prevent a Turkish military operation there, according to Syrian Documentation Center;
  • On December 7, Russia reported that Idlib militants violated the ceasefire regime in Greater Idlib 35 times: 16 – in Idlib province, 5 – in Aleppo province, 12 – in Latakia province, 2 – in Hama province.
