Operation Deterrent Balance 3: Houthis Strike Aramco’s Facilities In Saudi Yanbu

The Houthis announced on February 21 that the Yemeni Missile Force and Air Force had targeted oil facilities in the western Saudi city of Yanbu in a joint operation, dubbed Deterrent Balance 3.

In an official statement, Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni group, said that twelve suicide unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Samad-3 type, two Quds cruise missiles and a Zulfiqar ballistic missile were used in the attack.

According to Brig. Gen. Sari, the UAVs and missiles targeted a facility of Saudi oil giant Aramco as well as “sensitive targets” in Yanbu.

“This attack comes as a natural and legitimate response to the crimes of aggression, the latest of which was the crime of Al-Jawf, where dozens of civilians, mostly women and children, martyred,” the spokesman said.

More than 30 civilians were reportedly killed in a series of Saudi airstrikes the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf last week. The coalition acknowledged the crime and said that the strikes were conducted during a search operation for the crew of a Saudi warplane that was shot down by the Houthis.

While the Houthis claim that Operation Deterrent Balance was a success, the Saudi-led coalition had announced that the attack on Yanbu was foiled. Saudi activists released videos confirming that some of the drones and missile were intercepted. However, explosions were also reported in the vicinity of the coastal city.

Deterrent Balance 3 is the most recent in a series of large-scale attacks by the Houthis on the Saudi oil sector. The first attack, Deterrent Balance 1, targeted the Shaybah super-giant oil field in southeast Saudi Arabia on August 17. Deterrent Balance 2 took place on September 14 and targeted two strategic oil facilities in the eastern Saudi areas of Buqayq and Khurais.

good houthis and keep at it and clown prince mohammed bin salman, of fake leonardo da vinci purchase at 450m$, will soon be a head shorter and a memory just maybe.

  • Pave Way IV

Better luck during Deterrent Balance 4, Houthis. Everyone will celebrate when Yanbu is in flames.

Yanbu is a huge Saudi oil storage, transportation and refining hub. Saudi Aramco / Mobile Refinery (SAMREF) is the largest facility there and the largest single-train refinery in the world (= vulnerable). Yanbu oil terminal/port (tank farm = 12 million barrels), the power plant and desalination plant are also strategic targets there.

Houthis used to either take out, spoof or jam Patriot radars with the drones before their cruise missiles or ballistic missiles got into SAM range. The U.S. must have figured out a way to make that ineffective this time or saw the Samad-3’s coming.

If Yanbu (SAMREF, actually) would have been hit, there would be at least a few videos of fires there. The Saudis would have flipped out. Saudis refine their own light crude there and export the products. It’s enormously profitable for them… for now. After the Houthi barbecue the refinery? Not so much.

    • EveryoneIsBiased

True.. Lets hope Houtis and Iran have better success next time. 2020 should finally be the year this criminal war of aggression by the megalomaniac saudis and their partners ends.

    • Pave Way IV

…and nobody will cry much about Exxon/Mobil (a U.S. oil corporate oligarchy) losing their ass if SAMREF ever gets smoked.

    • Issam

The Saudi government forbid people from filming Houthis attacks and threatens them with legal actions, they even send them SMS to warn them.

      • Zionism = EVIL

Saudi cowards chop heads if any of the Ansarallah strikes are filmed or even discussed. A new hunting drone is now in operation.

    • Zionism = EVIL

      IRAN UNVEILS LOITERING HUNTING DRONE

The previously undocumented type of missile now seen in Yemen are
surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) that loiter in an area searching for a
target, according to a US military official cited by the New York Times on 19 February.

The missile’s existence was revealed by a UN Panel of Experts report released earlier in February, which detailed the Forrest Sherman seizure. It said it included two examples of a “previously not-documented cruise missile, possible for surface-to-air use”.

It released photographs showing a missile with an electro-optical sensor and what appeared to be an optical proximity fuse that would be appropriate and deadly for engaging aircraft and helicopters. It has a solid-propellant booster that drops away after the air-breathing engine is brought up to speed. Together with its non-swept wings, this indicated it is a long-range
subsonic weapon that would be ineffective against fast aircraft.

The military official told the New York Times that, after the booster drops off, the missile flies in a figure-of-eight pattern looking for targets and could be a threat to helicopters or V-22 Osprey, helicopters and tiltrotor transport aircraft used by occupation forces in Iraq and Syria. These new Iranian hunting drones can loiter over a wide area for hours at several thousand feet and hunt for potential targets and are relatively small and impossible to detect.

  • Wegan

It’s like everything, the Saudi adapted at a certain degree. We don’t really know the damages caused as the stakes are high for the Aramco IPO. I would hide it too.
Saudis are in bad need of cash flow for a stronger war chest.
If they don’t get their money, they will have to tax the population which pays zero in taxes now.
The ruling family will be in a much vulnerable position for a rebellion. And it doesn’t take much in that region. If someone hates you, they will bankroll the revolution.

    • Garga

They did in fact. A few days ago they increased the price of fuel again. They said from now on, they’ll “update” the price on a monthly basis, announced on 10th of each month. New taxes are coming too. A budget deficit of about $50bn for 2020 is staring at them.

      • Wegan

The only thing stopping a revolution there is taxation. They pay zero taxes. As their expenses increase people will be ripe for a revolution. Imagine that in Saudi Arabia.

  • Xoli Xoli

    Smoke the USA puppets.

  • Dick Von Dast’Ard

9.2% Govt budget deficit last time I checked for KSA… Leaking dollars.

    • Jake321

Maybe. But Islamist Iran is on the verge of bankruptcy and neither the US nor Saudis are. Try to get the important things correct.

      • Dick Von Dast’Ard

Last time I checked Iran had a govt debt to GDP ratio of 44%, U.S. 108%.

In terms of govts, the U.S. is the one now more bankrupt.

        • Jake321

LOL…that is why the Islamist Iranian interest and inflation rates are more than 10 times higher than the US. Get real and maybe take Econ 101.

          • Daily Beatings

Inflation is the with the value of the local currency and the purchasing power of that currency over time. Even with a higher inflationary rate their nominal GDP to debt ratio is still much lower than the US, which means they’re managing the debt load more effectively. It’s painfully obvious you know little to nothing about Macro economics.

          • Jake321

Well, those who know way more than you are betting you are wrong and I am correct. That is what Islamist Iran’s sky high interest rates show. Try to get the basics correct before spouting more arrogant crap.

          • Ashok Varma

It is the daily plethora of ignorant crap like yours that is the problem for all dear chap.

          • Jake321

More of your pablum platitudes, sport. Try a relevant, intelligent lost for once.

          • Daily Beatings

Bankruptcy is a financial condition and a legal process, not economics. You can’t even get that straight. Every time you open your mouth the ignorance keeps following.

          • Jake321

National debt default like that expected by the markets for Iran generally comes along with national bankruptcy or economic collapse. Obviously, you have never studied either finance or economics. So also take Finance 101 along with Econ 101 to get an education before arrogantly spouting your ignorance.

          • alejandro casalegno

Iran is under sanctions for the last 40 years……………and USA is waiting the collapse for 40 years……………..waiting…………..waiting……….

          • Jake321

Nahhhhhh…just for better behavior. But more recently a push to Islamist Iran’s bankruptcy is the intent to force better behavior. And maybe a new government.

      • Daily Beatings

The United States has over 128 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. Who’s bankrupt again?

        • Jake321

Not the US. Of course, you pulled that number out of your azz and don’t even know what an unfunded liability is. Again, a country like the US with interest and inflation rates near zero is anything but bankrupt. Try to get the simplest things correct.

          • Ashok Varma

Dear chap you live in a parallel online universe detached from reality.

          • Jake321

Hey sport, why do you comment with pablum platitudes l? Is it reflective of what’s between your ears?

          • Ewan

All artificially propped up by the Khazar Banking system, all ready to crumble when the next deriviative buble bursts, right after Iran closes Hormuz for 3 weeks

          • Jake321

Nice delusional wet dreams you have.

          • Daily Beatings

“… you pulled that number out of your azz ”

Unlike you everything I post I can back up:

            https://www.usdebtclock.org/

          • Jake321

That site doesn’t have sources noted for those assumptions. Nor do they give a time frame or discount rate for future liabilities. But do note, even if what they show is accurate, they also show that current US assets are way higher than the un-discounted future liabilities. So the US is far far from bankruptcy. Econ and Finance 101 await your attendance, kid.

          • Daily Beatings

… and add the unfunded liabilities to the national debt and this amount exceeds national assets. Liabilities greater than assets, which is the textbook definition of bankruptcy.

  • Garga

In the latest attack by the coalition of terror, on Jawf, 35 civilians were killed.
Not just simply civilians, from the 35 killed, 26 were children.
Also 23 were injured. Of them, 18 were children.

The only conclusion I can think of is that Saudi rulers clearly are sacrificing Yemeni children for their ever-hungry dark demon deity. The same thing Zionists do with Palestinian children.

    • Jake321

Most all the “children” killed by Israel were military age young men in their mid-teens, just under 18. And most all of them were combatants. Try to get the basics correct.

      • Garga

Right, the ones who are killed like these ones who are clearly “military age young men in their mid-teens”:
        https://cdni.rt.com/files/oldfiles/news/gaza-photo-award-target-353/suhaib-photo-world-swedish.si.jpg

And arrested like this “military age” individual:
        https://www.palestinechronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/arresting_children_2_intifada.jpg

But whatever floats your boat. A society without moral is a society condemned to doom and for this, Israelis have no one to blame but their own.

        • Gary Sellars

Pics like this are why so many people HATE the (fake) Judeo-Nazis.

Karma will bite these fascist cunts, its all just a matter of time.

          • Jake321

But the real Jews are doing just fine in Israel. And there is nothing you can do about it but get Darwin Awards.

          • Ewan

You mean the 20% REAL Jews in Israel…..who will unfortunately be BBQ’d with you fake Khazar Eastern european trash, right after Assad takes back the Golan. IDF already hiding scared in the galilee. The zionist Land grab project is over, so how you gonna get your Shekels when the SHTF?, just curious….maybe steal Patagonia, Uganda, Ukraine…perhaps? Do you think Moshiach will save you babykillers before annihilation, or after?, ‘cos the US certainly will not.

          • Jake321

            Take your meds.

        • Jake321

I sure didn’t say all. Learn to read. And that kid in the last photo sure isn’t dead. What would have floated lots of boats would have been the Palestinian leadership accepting their own state from the get go and not making war three times along with their Arab state enablers to get it all. They just keep losing but trying again and again using violence thinking it will get them what they want. It only gets them defeat and grief. They have just been offered a really bad deal which they have turned down. Too bad since it is the best they will every get. And it likely is the last deal they will be offered before they join with the Islamist Iranians in war and violence against Israel. This will mean no more deals but a second Nakba. And an Israeli from the River to the Sea with a solid Jewish majority and lots more Palestinians in Europe and Jordan. Sad. They really should have taken that offer over 70 years ago.

          • Ewan

The co-ordinated Hasbara fraud over the past 70 years has reached its sell-by date. Fact: IDF (a name-change for Stern Gang etc Terror groups) has always massacred women and children. Goy Blood sacrifices are a Talmudic rite. fact: Fake jew Khazars brought terrorism to the Middle East. Killing little kids is the plan like breaking protesting kids’ arms are a politically sanctioned means of silencing anti land theft protests.
Apartheid SA fell, so will the European settler colonial project called israel fall. Tic Tock Tick tock…..

          • Jake321

You will need a really, really lot of batteries for your click, kid. Now try to speed things up and get off your azz and act in your bravado. Your very own Darwin Award awaits.

        • Furkan Sahin

          Erdogan and Israel = dictator

      • JR

Under 18 is a child you terrorist fuck!

        • Jake321

Under the Rules of War, someone under 18 acting in a combat role or combat support role is fair game whether you call them a “child” or a “salamander.” Try to get the simplest things correct.

          • Pork

Yup. And since israelis remain in military reserves until 55 and start ( officially ) at age 18, the vast majority of Israelis are NOT civilian…HAPPY HUNTING!
            ROFLMFAO

          • Jake321

Go for it, junior, and collect your Darwin Award.

          • Pork

It’s all been planned and mapped. Patience boy, patience. You may think yourself clever but the fact remains that you ghetto yids will once again be the victims of your own ilk, as we can all recall your ‘ 6 million ‘ tragic history. Funny how the number of victims matches the same number of land squatters in Palestine.
The Darwin award will be yours for failing to recognise that you land squatters are nothing but cannon fodder…a pity.

          • Pork

You’ll be provided with 3 choices boy…bus, ship, or crate to hell’s gate.

            Enjoy the ride.
