Putin Declines Russian Military Request to Restart Airstrikes in Aleppo

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin declined the Russian military’s request to renew airstrikes on militants in the area of Aleppo city in Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday.

Earlier in the day, the Russian General Staff requested Putin to allow to strike militant targets in the area.

“You know about our General Staff statements about the need to resume airstrikes in Aleppo in connection with terrorist activities. The Russian president considers it inappropriate at the present time to resume airstrikes on Aleppo,” Peskov said.

SF recalls that heavy clashes in western Aleppo have been ongoing since today morning when the joint terrorist forces launched a wide-scale offensive on the Syrian army.
