At least 16 personnel of Turkish-led forces were killed and 12 others were injured in a car bomb explosion in the Turkish-occupied Syrian town of Ras al-Ayn on December 10. According to Turkish sources, the casualties included Turkish soldiers. 2 soldiers were allegedly killed and 6 others were injured. Some reports claim that the number of killed Turkish soldiers is in fact 3.
The governor’s office in the Turkish town of Sanliufra blamed the attack on the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YOG), which Turkey considers a terrorist group. The YPG is the core of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
