The Arctic version of the Tor air defense system is being used by the Russian Northern Fleet marines in the special military operation zone in Ukraine, two sources close to the Russian Ministry of Defense told TASS on March 9.
“The Tor-M2DT Arctic systems are operating in fighting orders of the Northern Fleet units in the special operation area,” one of the sources told the Russian news agency. Another source confirmed this piece of information, without detailing the area where these systems are operating. “Arctic Tor [systems] are successfully dealing with all combat tasks in the special military operation area, showing high efficiency,” he added.
The Tor system was designed by Russian air defense giant Almaz-Antey to destroy aircraft, helicopters, drones, missiles, and other precision guided weapons, flying at medium, low and very low altitudes in all weather. The Tor-M2DT version, which is based on the chassis of the DT-30PM tracked all-terrain vehicle, was especially developed to operate in the Arctic region at temperatures as low as −50 degrees °C.
The system can detect over 40 air targets then track and engage up to four of them simultaneously at a range of up to 12 kilometers and altitudes up to ten kilometers with its 16 9M338 missiles even on the move.
In February, it was revealed that the Tor air defense system was fine-tuned to effectively intercept precision-guided rockets fired by American-made M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) recently supplied to Ukraine.
The Russian military operates between 100-200 Tor systems of different versions. Newer versions, like the Tor-M2DT are still being mass produced.

If you had decent parents, they would have protected you against deviants, but your Mother sold you when the Marine Corp refused to I.D your Father.
