Dear friends,

As you know, in September 2017, SouthFront was banned from making live streams on YouTube. This was made by assigning a Community Guidelines strike to SouthFront’s YouTube channel.

The most interesting part is that YouTube restored an old SouthFront video entitled “Foreign Policy Diary ‘War on Terror’ [remastered]”, which was deleted from the channel on February 15, 2016, and assigned an Community Guidelines strike for the restored video. [PLEASE, FIND MORE DETAILS HERE]

The assigned strike was set to expire in early December. During all this period, SouthFront had a unhurried correspondence with YouTube’s representatives that were assuring us that YouTube was conducting a strict investigation of the incident.

On December 9, four months after the strike was assigned to the project’s YouTube channel, SouthFront received a final response from YouTube’s staff.

It’s important to note that the response was sent after the strike had expired itself. Despite this, the video was restored once again.

The restored video:

Furthermore, it’s clear from the response that YouTube did not investigation who from YouTube’s team was responsible for restoring SouthFront’s old video and assigning the strike to the project’s YouTube channel. YouTube dragged the case as long as possible and sent its response to SouthFront only after the strike expired itself.

There are two explanations of the situation:

  1. After all, it was a conspiracy against SouthFront
  2. The incompetence of YouTube’s staff

Soon, SouthFront awaits more “surprises” from our “friends” from the global corporations.
